Babalonian Jam

A jam about making Mörk Borg stuff and supporting animal charity
Babalonian Jam page

4 Flayed Faces

Concept: “They will grant the wearer unclean powers but at the most gruesome of cost.”
Content:
Four masks with a diverse spread of granted abilities
Writing:
Focused on clean delivery of the masks’ effects
Art/design:
Noh masks, paper texture, and kanji establish a distinct cultural theme
Usability:
Spiral text may be challenging to read but is an interesting design choice; the masks themselves may serve as a compelling adventure hook

Anthelia’s Black Glass

Concept: “Expanding on a snippet of lore from the Mörk Borg core rules, Anthelia's Black Glass is about examining the notion of "monster" in a world of anti-heroes.”
Content:
Those who fight monsters are doomed to become them
Writing:
Descriptive text is well written and evocative with an extremely efficient stat block
Art/design:
Illustration makes good use of the fragmented reflection conceit; the text is printed backward—you have to read it in a mirror
Usability:
Easy to use without consulting the document at the table; includes a non-mirrored version, but that defeats the concept and execution

BEAR-THING

Concept: “BEAR-THING Hungry. BEAR-THING Angry. BEAR-THING Hangry.”
Content:
An undead amalgam of bear and goblin (but also undead)
Writing:
Succinctly but entertainingly describes behavior and motivation
Art/design:
Economic arrangement of text around a pretty expressive image
Usability:
Keeps PCs on their toes by knocking them off their feet (with its blood)

Black Adder

Concept: “A submission to the Babalonian jam!”
Content:
Danger noodle (sometimes called a nope rope)
Writing:
Stat block and a mechanically straightforward but still twisted special ability
Art/design:
An object lesson in pictures being worth a thousand words
Usability:
Special damage adds more nuance to an already sturdy monster

Black Shuck

Concept: “An aphotic fur that almost seems invisible to the naked eye.”
Content:
A formidable four-legged opponent
Writing:
Quick, concise stat block
Art/design:
Relatively conservative but with an expressive illustration
Usability:
A challenge for lower- and even mid-level scvm; dog biscuits probably won’t improve its reaction

BOG

Concept: “Submission for Babalonian Jam!”
Content:
A handy horror
Writing:
A stat block with a pair of Specials
Art/design:
Integration of title with illustration is wonderfully creepy and fitting for the concept
Usability:
May give PCs the munchies (for hand meat)

Bovid Sentinel

Concept: “Flesh-forged by a master unknown, destined to stand vigil over a decrepit and abandoned tower”
Content:
A beefy guardian monster
Writing:
Stat block with descriptions of the monster’s nature and behavior
Art/design:
Stats are presented in larger type for quick GM reference
Usability:
Simple to run; will probably pose a moderate challenge to melee combatants

Candelabra of Blood

Concept: “It's a candelabra. Of blood. It uses hit points to summon Blood Drenched Skeletons. Or it might turn you into a skeleton. You get to decide.”
Content:
The concept pretty much sums it up.
Writing:
Two clear and concise sentences
Art/design:
A suitably gory figure with a floral ground that keeps the black and white spaces visually interesting
Usability:
For the GM, straightforward; for PCs, potentially lethal and hilarious (unless you’re another PC—then it’s even more lethal)

D8 Holy Items of the Church of the Two-Headed Basilisk

Concept: “Holy Items in the possession of the Church of the Two-Headed Basilisk to be looted or stolen by your players”
Content:
A roster of sacred artifacts and relics
Writing:
Clear descriptions of item’s functions in a grimly spiritual tone
Art/design:
8 short paragraphs with some incidental illustrations; palimpsest effect adds visual character
Usability:
An interesting mix of beneficial and dangerous special abilities

Demon Dogrider / Hellhound

Concept: “Your growth has been stunted by a dark pact that binds you to a canid companion and feeds its fury.”
Content:
A lance-wielding goblin class with a beastly mount
Writing:
Includes standard class profile (the mount, not rider, benefit from class features) and a stat block for the hellhound
Art/design:
Text heavy, but uses color to organize sections and highlight important information
Usability:
As a composite character, poses certain risks but also provides particular benefits

Discrepants

Concept: “Wretched creatures from some far away place, they desire nothing more than to return home. If you help, they promise a great reward.”
Content:
Noxious metallic beings from elsewhere
Writing:
Contains a stat block and a table of needs and promises
Art/design:
Leans into Mörk Borg yellow to establish a toxic sense; abstracted figures create a sense of appearance but leaves room for GM interpretation
Usability:
Could serve as an unusual hook for a quest

Dogo and Dream

vil
Concept: “Two new monsters for Mörk Borg.”
Content:
The Doomsayer Dogo and the Eternal Dreamer in Metal Husk
Writing:
Tone and imagery are pretty grim even by Mörk Borg standards
Art/design:
Economical layouts and design with evocatively brooding illustrations
Usability:
Highly lethal with a significant chance of Misery

Dödsråttor

Concept: “They are everywhere. They  are above you, beneath you; runtted minions of the end Itself.”
Content:
Rat swarm à la Mörk Borg
Writing:
A standard stat block with a bit of grimly humorous descriptive text
Art/design:
Expressive typography and an illustration that reinforces the concept without being too graphic
Usability:
Well laid out for readability

Executioner of Nechrubel

Concept: “The Dark Lord dispatches these to rid the world of threats to the apocalypse. The end of all things will not be denied.”
Content:
A powerful, relentless agent of the apocalypse
Writing:
Stats, special abilities, and some lyric lore
Art/design:
White and yellow text stand out against the cool, dark ground, emphasizing the sinister illustration
Usability:
Easy for the GM to run, and will probably inspire PCs to run (away)

Freakface Toad

Concept: The title pretty much says it all
Content:
A seriously ugly—and poisonous—toad
Writing:
Minimal stats and concise special ability descriptions
Art/design:
Seriously ugly toad
Usability:
Good for a surprising but not probably not lethal encounter
