30 Days of Mörk Borg Adventure Chapbook vol. 1

Content:
3 self-contained adventures
Writing:
Alternately uses descriptive prose and tables to suit each adventure’s content
Art/design: Presents each adventure in a distinct style to suit its character and structure
Usability:
Content warning: naked antics, poo monsters, and BEAR-THING

A Growing Menace

Concept: “The Sarkash forests have gone eerily silent, and travelers who venture too close to the wood line are disappearing without a trace.”
Content: Feast your eyes to an old god of the forest.
Writing: Strong thematic elements established in both background and environmental description.
Art/design: Haunting illustration by Waclaw supports an ominous yet understated layout.
Usability: You won’t get caught up in this web.

Ancient Skin

Concept: “One of you dregs is plagued with a maddening itch and not only that – the skin is starting to rot. They say Mausoleum Knutha, on the edge of the graveyard Graven-Tosk, holds the only known cure.”
Content:
A complex and variable (not to mention twisted) crawl through Sarkash
Writing:
Efficient but vivid descriptions of locations and inhabitants punctuated by grim wit
Art/design:
Marvelous maps; type design helps map the connections amongst locations and items
Usability:
Provides checkboxes to track variables (but if you mark this pamphlet, you’re a heathen and you deserve whatever misery befalls you)
*Backer reward for original Kickstarter campaign; special thanks to Johan for providing a copy of this rare little gem

Bandits

Concept: “The shopkeep isn't happy, and it's thanks to these damn bandits.”
Content: It’s not about the bandits... You’re in for a long night. Stay hydrated.
Writing: I mean, bandits are involved, but it’s a parasitic sort of relationship to the text.
Art/design: Inky black horror, in an effective simulacrum of a starter adventure.
Usability: Layout will be familiar and effective for readers of official adventures.

Bestiary

Concept: “The artefact which has come into your possession... these notes-however crude they may seem-however cursed and however twisted, are notes that I would guard with my life.”
Content: 40+ nightmarish monsters, a vampire-like class, lore, tables, a dungeon.
Writing: Renford P. Logan’s journalistic endeavors frame this collection of strongly themed creatures and locales. Realistic portrayals of disturbing events lend weight to the creatures and locales. It is enjoyable to both read and reference.
Art/design: Characterful two-tone illustrations and text elements in a balanced layout. Reserved but impactful use of color.
Usability: Thematic organization in a strong table of contents make for low prep referencing.

Bogfolk’s Forest

Concept: “Get lost in our Bog, stay a while, why don’t you?”
Content: “A forest cursed by an ancient witch’s heart” and d6 places to encounter there.
Writing: Description and mechanics interact to establish the setting and each new environment.
Art/design: Bogdown forest looms in false color behind a dark window to the text.
Usability: As a location generator for your random boggy encounters.

Brain Pest

Concept: “After eating some mushrooms from the depths of Sarkash, a tribe of goblins seems to have grown intelligent.
Content: Mushroom powered hyper intelligent goblins.
Writing: Mechanics provide an interesting abstraction of tactical superiority.
Art/design: Tiny goblins plague a victim behind the prominent text bars.
Usability: Bounty not included.

Chamber of Screams and More

Concept: “Five different 12" x 12" double-sided posters, each a different encounter idea/mini-adventure... Each is a stand-alone and, if I've done things right, will lead to a TPK or as close to one as possible.”
Content: Five fatal mistakes for your next group of scvm.
Writing: Humorous and harrowing. With deadly accommodations for particularly resilient scvm.
Art/design: Art-heavy poster layouts with detailed adventure text on the reverse side.
Usability: Clean and calculated for reading and reference.

Compost

Concept: “This shady business has confused more than one necromancer.”
Content: A walking tree with a surprise inside.
Writing: A unique take on armor that reinforces an amusing concept.
Art/design: A dead tree creeps up behind boxed text.
Usability: Clean text boxes make for easy reference.

Dead Girls in Sarkash Forest

Concept: “You are lost. You are dead.”
Content:
A random pointcrawl through Sarkash, 6 original thematic classes, and optional rules and gear that add more conceptual depth and distinction without straying from the Mörk Borg core
Writing:
Brooding and grim with an undertone of forlorn optimism; extremely effective in conveying the intended tone and atmosphere
Art/design:
Visually diverse art and typographical choices unified by a focus on the setting and themes
Usability:
Deliberately deals with sexism and trauma; intended as a self-contained module, but the adventure and classes can be used with other Mörk Borg content

Drafts: Dead Girl Classes, Dead Girls in Sarkash Forest, Encounters in Sarkash Forest

Deep Into The Sarkash Forest

Concept: “Here is my track for this day #MÖRKTOBER 's prompt : Forest ! Hope you'll enjoy this Ambient/Folk-Horror sound!”
Content: A sonorous, haunting, and full ambient track for walking the woods.
Writing: It has a title, it’s fitting.
Art/design: A dark forested singles cover. A soft progression into droning choral soundscapes until their sudden and inevitable collapse.
Usability: To play at your table.

Elk Deathyard

Concept: “Among the dead and those that refuse to stay still, even the accursed fear the true silence.
When you can’t hear anything but your breathing, you might be
close to the-”
Content: A Tveland Cabin Crawl.
Writing: Supernatural horror. Full of foreboding. With shocks and twists as well as horror tropes.
Art/design: Design elements emphasize a descent into darkness.
Usability: Mini-map, representative spot illustrations, and clean layout aid in table reference.

Fae and Whimsy

Concept:
“In ancient woods deep and wide
where beasts of old are by my side
I the fairy king full of ire
declare this war, my one desire.”
Content: Three fae enemies, twelve new Miseries, one fairy crown, and a war to tie them all together.
Writing: Misery with a hint of whimsy, challenge with a hint of capriciousness.
Art/design: Graceful and organic line art supplements a heavy serif text.
Usability: Printable as a human or fairy-scaled booklet.

Gravrövare

Concept: “You’ve heard whispers of a collector, deep in the Sarkash forest who pays handsomely for the corpses of men.”
Content: Graverobbery for a mysterious benefactor.
Writing: A simple organic reproduction of a violently transformational movie.
Art/design: Loud compositions, vibrant colors, grunge, and visual interest.
Usability: Memorable, referenceable, legible.

Greyson’s Forest

Concept: “Find Mardach's garden and the moshruums within.”
Content: A secret garden, of sorts. Plenty of fertilizer at least.
Writing: A legend, of unclear message, and plenty of textual evidence it’s about to go horribly wrong.
Art/design: Fuchsia fungi feed mustard trees near a fertilizer-free two-column layout.
Usability: “To be continued...” No, seriously.
