Content: 22 music-inspired settings and scenarios; many intriguing rules and foes; alternate Miseries; a whole spread of punishments for unruly dice
Writing: Variously fascinating and horrifying
Art/design: Widely variegated but all nicely done
Usability: A couple atypical layouts that reward a bit of scrutiny and patience

All proceeds donated to Doctors Without Borders
Death Witch
Content: An archetypal witch class with 10 new unclean and sacred Powers
Writing: Clearly written and easy to understand
Art/design: Easy-to-use layout and a lovely Klimt sketch; nicely emulates the feel of an old, well-used spellbook
Usability: Modifies the penalties for failed Powers for a different but still challenging spellcasting experience; particularly fun use of d6s and modifiers in Draw Down the Doom, which is specific to this class
ELLI: Bloodsucking Abomination
Content: “A precious little scamp HUNGRY to meet you.”
Writing: Active, light, and just a little clingy.
Art/design: Bloody adorable illustration with a steady flow in the hierarchy and design.
Usability: Engaging, concise, and fluid reading.
FÖLK-LORE: Fiends, Freaks, & Foes
41 contributors
Content: The first volume of collected FÖLK-LORE Jam entries
Writing: Varies by author, see individual entries under the FÖLK-LORE Jam tag
Art/design: Varies by entry; single-page entries are well balanced in spreads
Usability: Varies by entry, but it’s all Mörk Borg—how tough could it be?
I am PalaDONE with your Sh*t!
Content: An anti-paladin (not antipaladin) class
Writing: Concise and conveys the information clearly but still full of wrathful character
Art/design: Classic MBC clean layout in two columns with a facing illustration
Usability: Perfect for when you want to rage against holier-than-thou asses
Jólakötturinn / Yule Cat
Concept: “The Jólakötturinn stalks the Dying World devouring anyone caught wearing old and tattered clothes at Jól.”
Content: A seriously beastly monster
Writing: Straightforward but with plenty of character
Art/design: Nice adaptation of Le Chat Noir design
Usability: This cat hates your holiday sweater—it’s as simple as that
Kristian: Paladin
Content: A paladin on a quest / power trip
Writing: Folds characterization in the procedural description for running the NPC
Art/design: Stats, instructional text, and reward values arrayed around the central illustration
Usability: Straightforward for GMs, likely enraging for the players
Marrow Bees & Osteapiarists
Content: Parasitic bees, their (in)toxic(ating) honey, and their keepers
Writing: A fair split of flavor and mechanics, both well conceived and written
Art/design: Subtle but effective representations of colonized humans
Usability: Honey mechanics are split, but not detrimental on a 1-page document
Slapping Bastard
Concept: “Though lumbering and unable to make a closed fist or grip anything smaller than a stout branch, you slap like a burlap sack full of rocks.”
Content: An open-palm brawler class
Writing: Descriptive with a dryly humorous streak
Art/design: Colors help text stand out against background image in a well-organized layout
Usability: A bit difficult to read when printed in black & white; if you’re using it on the screen or in color, you’re good to go
SlasHER
Slasher Zine / Jam Compilation

The Emperor of Teeth
Content: A weird, bleak encounter in cabin-turned-horror-show
Writing: Pulls no punches with the body horror and grotesque imagery; payoff is grimly humorous
Art/design: Available in pamphlet and Album crawl version, which is read counterclockwise
Usability: Page numbers help reading the pamphlet digitally; the Album Crawl version is challenging in either medium
The Occult Ossuary
28 contributors
Content: “Classes, items, companions, monsters and encounters created by sacrilegious mind.”
Writing: A variety of styles, all appropriate to their content
Art/design: Worth downloading just to check out the range of art and layouts
Usability: Complexity varies by entry but consistently easy to use
The Wicker God
Content: An enormous monster that eats characters and monsters alive before immolating itself
Writing: Concise but descriptive with well-placed humor
Art/design: Typography and purely graphic components all contribute to an overall woven, vegetable texture
Usability: Selective regeneration makes a bit more math for the GM; defeating it without killing consumed allies creates a tactical challenge for the PCs
